Cross Creek Ranch

Built in a meadow above the creek, with views of red cliffs and a nearby pond, this ranch house compound has a rustic character that makes it fit right in - yet maintains very modern sensibilities. It integrates the rusted, earthy colors and textures of the surrounding terrain with a contemporary interpretation of western design.

Furnishings are comfortable and durable, but without needing to imitate cowboy style. A graphic Navajo rug, a tramp art mirror and console, a leather lounge chair and antique wooden tables all evoke the southwest, blending easily with clean lined contemporary furniture, hearty raw silk throws, plump velvet pillows.

Green glass tile updates the country kitchen, blending with green granite counters and scavo glass pendants. The same color appears on printed chintz drapes in the dining room. The bridge faucet and metal stove flue add rustic character, as do the whitewashed hickory cabinets. A white marble island reminds you of your grandmother’s kitchen.

The bathrooms play with organic ideas by mixing water-color-green glass and live edge juniper into the contemporary design. The master tub overlooking the pond is filled by a spout from the ceiling - like sitting in a waterfall. Edison bulbs and simple light fixtures set a vintage mood.
