North Slope Estate

When this pair of executives from Chicago moved to the Southwest they brought their art collection and not much else. The new home would have its own aesthetic, albeit with Chicago sophistication.
They worked with the design team to integrate art placement throughout the home, including uplit niches to display glass objects. Divya developed the palette of finishes and interior materials, working with some of the pieces to be featured. Blue-green tints from Chagall inspired the Seafoam Green limestone tile used throughout, establishing a cool scheme balancing the deep reds of the surrounding cliffs. Cabinetry in the living room concealing the A/V gear has cubist lines reminiscent of the Deco era. A demilune cabinet in the foyer was created to display a curving bronze Erte sculpture.
The soaring wooden ceilings are actually part of the roof structure, the network of beams carved onsite to match up at multiple angles and create the required support. The spectacular undertaking served to frame the one masterpiece they did not bring from home: the view.

The living room’s three directions of focus - the entertainment center, the fireplace and the outside view - call for multiple seating arrangements which will also work together for large gatherings.
